ABOUT ME

BACKGROUND

It has been my honour to serve as the area councillor for the past four years. I grew up in Foothills County and have continually made Foothills my home. Along with my wife of 23 years, we are raising our family of four teenagers, with the oldest one now away at college. We own and operate a mixed farm and export much of our products to a customer base we have developed in the eastern United States. We have always been a busy family and active in our community - we are always looking to give back to a community that has given us so much. I'm a passionate advocate for rural communities and small businesses. My journey in public service began with the Foothills County, where I have served as a council member for 8 years. I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that our community faces, and I am dedicated to creating positive change to sustainably manage local resources in order to build a strong future for generations to come.

MY RECORD

In addition to council duties, I have served on 18 committees throughout the community, including: budget, finance, audit, recreation, appeals, inter-municipal, fire, and agriculture committees. This past year I was elected by my peers to serve on the agriculture services board provincial committee where we look out for all things Ag and advocate for agricultural issues.

Over the past four years on council, we have achieved many things -road improvements, water and wastewater projects, community space improvements - and supported many great causes. We finally saw the end of the CMRB, despite the province dragging its feet and wasting millions of dollars. We have kept property taxes comparatively low, which is difficult when the province increases requisitions 20% in a year. We have also kept water and wastewater rates from spiralling along with inflation.
